When you’re surrounded by so much death the mind becomes numb with shock. We have been so desensitized to violence that after awhile some deaths turns out to be pretty funny in retrospect. Or at least for those who see the incident from the outside. While this doesn’t involve death, and it’s too old to specifically involve the dead (while not being old enough to involve ancient records of previous outbreaks) but it is downright creepy. Someone dug up this old file and has been spreading it through the CVC lines as a way to share with children the importance of not biting. Not only might your child be mistaken for a zee, but who knows what he or she will pick up biting random people.

I have to be honest with you here. Even as a child I found Mr. Rogers to be more than a little creepy. His puppets were creepy, he was creepy and so were his sweaters! This clip has done nothing to help fix that sensation.

Or at least for those who see the incident from the outside. Morbid humor was on the rise before the zees all woke up and started chomping on people. For a brief time it faded off because reality is rarely funny unless you truly are twisted to some extent. I don’t judge, I find reality extremely funny, but then again I am more than a little twisted.

This little piece was sent to me by someone who used to focus on cute cartoons involving kittens or puppies or something. I don’t know, I never paid attention to their interests before. I guess the new world has changed their outlook on things and for once we have something in common. So I tip my hat to my friend out there and ask the general public, “too soon?”

I think what I regret the most when looking back upon the weeks before the zee outbreak became common knowledge was the offbeat attitude we held towards the warning signs.

Reports of people previously known as rational or at least normal changing their behavior were ignored or found comical. Attacks where individuals began biting others, especially on or near the head were written off as quirky incidents of the deranged. Those who were bitten never sought out medical help which while not curing them might have contained the virus from further infecting others.

Such incidents were often reported by the news as random incidents both humorous and non life threatening.

Before the war it was not uncommon for children who grew up in a life privileged and without hardship from physical means, such as getting food, clothing and shelter, to lash out at their social standing and make attempts to stand up for the “little person”. This cycle was repeated through every generation with a mix of well meaning or outraged rebellious youths and their championed cause who would stand back in awe, dismay or disgust watching their defenders. The reaction achieved often depended as much upon the method of their display as it did on their actual results. Here in the new world we see a repeat of that through information that has been smuggled out of the Green Zone and brought to me.

Safe behind fenced off and patrolled borders privileged citizens are rising up and demanding their government do something to help the suffering poor people on our side of the fence. To quell the concerns of these well meaning and well paying citizens and to quiet any chance of political assassination in their character the government has started a propaganda program to assure the sheltered few that the masses are both in no great danger and being cared for.

Scientists in the Green Zone are being shown on news outlets proclaiming the virus that causes the zombie plague is merely an illness of the joints. It causes stiffening to where victims cannot bend their limbs and require assistance. Eventually signs of a flesh wasting illness appear giving the undead like appearance. Assuring the sheltered that those outside the Green Zone, while extremely contagious are not in any real danger has become the new method of quieting their consciences. This campaign is being added by the media controlled by the government.

The latest piece is a film that has come out called “Harold’s Going Stiff”. It shows a love story with comedy aspects that is supposed to be a documentary of a real situation that happened out here beyond the walls of the Green Zone. We have to survive if only so that the real story of what occurred out here is written in history.

Or at least for those who see the incident from the outside. With all that we have had to change in our habits, one would think that views on women and what they are capable of would have shifted. Many mothers have had to change into being fierce killers in order to protect their families. Yet there are some elements in our broken society that wish to preserve the matron figure head image complete with baking and practical tips.

One such movement, Families for Civilized Society, created just such a video to help with the holidays that have passed. How many mothers followed the tips provided here and how successful it made their last Christmas is unknown. Statistics provided on the Families for Civilized Society could not be independently verified.

Or at least for those who see the incident from the outside. Then there are examples that shock you with just how stupid they truly are. Not unlike the 1950s USA instructional film that told school children to duck and cover in case of an Atom Bomb attack, the rampant spread of misinformation astounds us.

When FEMA Region 6 sent us this film found in their archives, neither of us could be certain of the date of this film. Clearly the government has been preparing for the event of a zee outbreak for some time. Tragically much like the atom film of the 50s, this film also has misinformation, especially regarding fire and zees. In fact setting fire to zees is a great way to eliminate groups if you are not concerned about unchecked and uncontrolled wild fire afterwards. When in an environment that is dry, zee bodies tend to light up like kindling. However I digress from the main points of the film that are sure to be enjoyed by all.

Or at least for those who see the incident from the outside. Some things are funny because they cannot be explained. And in this world of madness, the mad seem to hold court and capture our imaginations and attentions. Like watching a train wreck, you want to look away but you find you just cannot.

Recently while listening in on the airwaves Beebles came across a transmission that she recorded. We cannot make sense of this particular piece of data. Some within the safe house feel it might be code while others think it’s a joke. Personally I think it’s a small group of people who have gone stark raving mad. I’ll let you be the judge.
